Core and Enhanced Retainer Options
Our Education Data Protection Law Retainer is offered at two levels, Core and Enhanced, so you can select the package that reflects the amount and type of support your institution is likely to require.
Each package gives you access to specialist education data protection lawyers. Enhanced is designed for institutions expecting more regular support or help with a wider range of routine matters.
Enhanced service
Every Enhanced Service client is assigned a dedicated relationship manager who serves as the main point of contact and principal adviser for most day-to-day data protection queries. Your relationship manager will be a senior solicitor with specialist education data protection expertise, providing advice that is responsive, practical and clear.
Under the Enhanced Service, you can contact your senior education data protection solicitor by telephone, video call or email. The retainer includes routine enquiries that can be resolved in approximately one hour. This might involve checking a privacy notice or data-sharing agreement, advising on an urgent breach or safeguarding disclosure, preparing correspondence or guiding you through a routine information rights request.
If a matter falls outside the routine support included in the retainer and requires more substantial work, we will agree a separate scope and fee with you. Enhanced Service clients receive discounted hourly rates, and our quotations are presented transparently at the outset, so you understand what is included and can plan your budget with confidence.
We will aim to flag at the earliest opportunity any issue that is likely to need additional support. If the position changes for example, because the matter escalates or becomes more involved than first expected, we will talk you through the available options before further work is undertaken, enabling you to decide how best to proceed and manage the associated cost.
Enhanced Service clients are also entitled to reduced rates for our practical, interactive training sessions.
We believe a successful retainer depends on a strong, open relationship between client and adviser. To support that relationship, your senior relationship manager will arrange an annual review, held online or in person. We will also keep usage under review to help ensure that the service continues to represent value for money.
Core Service
Core Service clients also receive a dedicated relationship manager who acts as their main contact and principal adviser for most everyday data protection questions. This will be a senior solicitor with specialist education data protection expertise, ensuring that advice is prompt, clear, practical and easy to access.
The Core Service is intended for educational institutions that anticipate needing support only from time to time, principally for brief and straightforward data protection queries.
It provides telephone access to legal advice for occasional enquiries that can usually be addressed within approximately 30 minutes.
If your pattern of enquiries shows that the level of support required is materially higher than anticipated within the Core retainer fee, we may discuss moving to, or agreeing, a package that is better suited to your institution’s needs.
